On August 25, 2023, following the release of the Snooze music video, Variety made an article stating that Justin Bieber would be featured on the remix of Snooze and it would be a track on the SOS (Deluxe).

On September 5, 2023, SZA’s manager, Punch, tweeted that SZA and Justin Bieber’s collaboration was not a remix, leaving many fans confused as this contradicted the article by Variety. The confusion would later be cleared up upon release, with the song being released as an acoustic instead of a remix.

On September 15, 2023, whilst Drake and SZA were announcing the release their collaboration “Slime You Out”, Drake notably announced that it was releasing at mid-day instead of midnight with many fans confused as to why. At midnight, SZA surprise-dropped the Snooze remix with an Instagram post stating she “forgot to mention this”.
