Teezo Touchdown (born Aaron Lashane Thomas on October 31, 1992) is an eclectic artist who hails from Beaumont, Texas. He grew his passion for music at a young age — and as explained by himself, listened to anything his father (who was a DJ) played ranging from Marvin Gaye to Kraftwerk. Growing up Teezo learned how to produce via his father, who brought Teezo to studio sessions, and let him use DJ equipment.

Teezo began his musical career in 2011, during his senior year of high school when he began to upload music to YouTube. After high school graduation, not having much funds to sustain a musical career, Teezo started producing beats for underground artists in the Houston and Beaumont, Texas area. At the time he went under the moniker “AyeTee” — a variant of the nickname “AT” derived from his initials. By 2013 he became known as “Teezo Suave” and was taught how to shoot music videos. Using that knowledge, he began to direct videos for the same artists he ended up producing for.

In 2016, Teezo Suave lost his then-girlfriend to gun violence, so following an extended period of inactivity, he was reborn as Teezo Touchdown. After Hip-Hop collective Cvke Supply got word of Teezo Touchdown in 2017, they hosted the release of “It Depends” and “Professional.” The following year Teezo released two mixtapes Cover Boy and The Example to SoundCloud.

Early into 2019, Teezo earned his first viral moment of his career with the track “100 Drums,” which addressed gun violence amongst his community over the instrumental of Panic At The Disco!’s 2006 hit, “I Write Sins Not Tragedies.” It gained the attention of Chance The Rapper and Trippie Redd, who both built relations with Teezo. By November of that year, Teezo Touchdown released his earliest streaming single, “Slice.” He then followed up with a remix of Roddy Ricch’s hit “The Box,” which notably marked the debut of Teezo Touchdown’s iconic stage, which is based around a three-door garage in Beaumont, Texas.

While 2020 piggybacked from what Teezo laid down in 2019, most of it would be wiped from his public profiles, which signaled a change in his drive. While he began slow, with the COVID-19 outbreak at its peak, his Twitter clips teasing music would still gain traction. Around this time he began to put his signature nails in his head, embracing a punk aesthetic. In July 2020, after signing a record deal with Sony Music Entertainment, Teezo went on a three-track run, including “SUCKA!,” “Careful,” and the newly-redone “Strong Friend,”. The three went viral online, and drew the gaze of Tyler, The Creator by August 2020.

Unlike 2020 which was halted by a global pandemic, Teezo started 2021 strong with the release of his groovy “Technically.” Around this time Teezo also linked up with Tyler, The Creator for a studio session, promised by Tyler to Teezo after he had heard “SUCKA!.” In that session, the two recorded “RUNITUP,” which ended up releasing on Tyler’s seventh studio album, CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST in June 2021. With mainstream eyes on him, Teezo stayed true to himself, releasing the standout-singles “Mid” (accompanied by the “Rid The Mid” campaign) and “I’m Just A Fan.”

In 2022, Teezo joined Tyler, The Creator for his CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST Tour alongside Vince Staples & Kali Uchis for the United States leg of the tour. Amidst tour, Teezo released “Handyman.”

After coming off tour, Teezo slowly geared up for his debut studio album, How Do You Sleep At Night?, releasing “Familiarity” as a single from it. On July 28, 2023, Teezo Touchdown earned a place on Travis Scott’s long-awaited fourth studio album, UTOPIA. He appeared on “MODERN JAM,” intriguing listeners with a retro sound to complement the bouncy instrumental. Shortly after appearing on UTOPIA, Teezo recieved countless co-signs from new fans, including Metro Boomin, Quavo, and Drake — who Teezo played How Do You Sleep At Night? for after a show of Drake’s It’s All a Blur Tour. Drake pushed back For All The Dogs‘ release for Teezo’s inclusion on “Amen,” “7969 Santa,” and “BBL Love (Interlude).”

Capitalizing on new eyes watching, Teezo released “You Thought” joined by Janelle Monáe as the lead single of his aforementioned debut studio album, How Do You Sleep At Night? that released on September 8, 2023. The album’s deluxe released four months later on January 10, 2024.
